Every six months is a good default, but your ideal recall depends on your gums, fillings and habits.
Most people know the six-month rule. It is a sensible default, and it is why our recall reminders are set at six months after your last check-up.
If your gums are healthy and you have had no new decay for a few years, your dentist may stretch that to nine or twelve months. If you smoke, have diabetes or are pregnant, more frequent visits help catch problems early.
Ask at your next check-up: we will tell you what interval suits you and note it on your record.
“The best treatment is the one that's right for you, not the most expensive.”
